Pep Guardiola clarifies 'Manchester United bigger than Manchester City' remarks

Pep Guardiola hopes to enjoy a long spell in charge at Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said he is approaching the end of his coaching career and the process of bidding goodbye has already started.

City sit three points ahead of United in the Premier League table, but the Spaniard believes they need ten years of European football to catch their neighbours.

"I was comparing the titles [won by City] with Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid".

Overall, I think that N'Zonzi is a good fit for Manchester City.

Ancelotti said the Citizens will take some time to accept Guardiola's ideas and explained: "He has new players there and they are dealing with a new way of playing".

"I want to help the club to believe they are good, I want the fans to feel they are good".

Bilic believes high pressing is the key to knocking City out of their stride and that, combined with a drop in confidence, has left them vulnerable after a dominant start to the Premier League campaign.

What happens in the Premier League happens in the cup as well.

While it is far too soon to say his philosophy will not succeed in England, he certainly looks frazzled and could do with City recapturing the swashbuckling spirit that saw them mark his arrival with a 10-game winning streak. "No, of course I am not thinking about retiring". One thing that has not changed is the number of pricey players on show, a mirror image of the inflated prices the club seemed happy to pay under megalomaniac chairman Peter Swales in the late-1970s and early-1980s.

"What I like is to imagine that the next step can be better - if not, I will not be here", Guardiola told NBC in the buildup to the Burnley game.

But Ancelotti, who has coached in both countries, said Manchester City manager Guardiola will have to be patient to succeed. "That's not something you can switch on or off". I think of myself, speak with my staff and the people I trust, to convince myself whether my doubts are just insane moments. I will always be grateful for the people who trust me to come here'. That's why I move on. After Barcelona I moved to Munich and then made a decision to have a new target.
