Almost half of couples on Netflix admit to 'cheating'

Worldwide, 46% of Netflix users admit they've watched a TV show without their significant other, specifically, watching ahead of them, despite explicitly promising not to do that very thing, says Netflix.

"In India where 79 percent couples believe that streaming is a way to spend time together, almost 60 per cent of couples consider binging ahead as cheating and nearly half have even admitted to this 'offence, '" the findings showed.

"Netflix cheating" is on the rise, according to a global survey by the streaming service.

Do you cheat and watch your favorite show without your significant other?

Most respondents plan to keep doing it, and 63 percent say they'd do it more if they knew they could get away with it.

The survey also revealed that once you've Netflix cheated, it's hard to stop: 81 percent of cheaters are repeat offenders and 44 percent have cheated more than three times.

Globally, 25% of the cheating happens when their partner falls asleep during binge-watching sessions.

Netflix says the most loyal viewers are in Netherlands where the study shows 73% have not cheated.

The most common shows people tend to "cheat" watch are: "The Walking Dead", "Breaking Bad", "American Horror Story", "House of Cards", "Orange Is the New Black", "Narcos" and "Stranger Things".

"Netflix cheating" was first discovered in a 2013 study in the United States where 12% of American admitted to streaming infidelity.

72 percent of Brits have admitted that they have no self-control and can't resist the temptation to Netflix cheat - according to a Netflix survey of 30,267 people.

The Netflix survey was conducted by SurveyMonkey from December 20-31, 2016 and based on 30,267 responses.
