Country star Eric Church cancels 25K tickets bought by scalpers

NEW YORK NY- JANUARY 27 Musician Eric Church performs during his Holdin' My Own Tour at Barclays Center

If you're an Eric Church fan and you bought tickets to his May 13 concert at Scottrade Center from a secondary ticket outlet, we've got big, badnews for you: your tickets are mostly likely invalid.

Ticket prices are $21.25, $45, $65 and $85.25.

"In this era where growing inequality seems to be the norm, we wanted to do everything within our power to put the advantage back in the hands of true fans rather than those that take advantage of the system, and by extension our people", John Peets, Church's manager, said in announcing the tour.

In a story published by the Associated Press, Church as quoted as saying he would do whatever he could "to stop what he calls a criminal organization that's making millions".

"They buy thousands of tickets across the US, not just mine, and they end up making a fortune", Church explained.

The tickets will be released on Tuesday at noon local time for the remaining stops of the 60-city tour. "Fans would have a strong case for contesting charges with their credit card company if they paid for something that the scalper didn't deliver".

In his interview, Church noted scalpers make money buying up thousands of tickets on fake credit cards with fake IDs. "We're getting better at identifying who the scalpers are", Church added about this new method of canceling suspicious bulk purchases.

"You come at us, we're going to go after you in return", Church said regarding scalpers, according to CBS News. At the end of the day that broker and one other had 15,000 tickets. "I don't believe they will anytime soon".

However, Church remains adamant in ensuring his fans won't have to pay inflated scalper prices to see him perform.
