Danny Dyer taking 'short break' from EastEnders, BBC confirms

Since it was announced that Danny Dyer is to take a break from his EastEnders role as Mick Carter, there has been a flurry of feverish reports from claims that bosses forced him off the show to sort out his personal life through to articles dredging up interviews from two years ago in which he said he was exhausted.

John said it was "difficult to maintain" the balance between his filming obligations and managing his mother's Alzheimer's, leading to him to quit the soap.

According to The Sun, the actor was "enforced to take a break" from filming the BBC One soap amid concerns from producers that he needs to "sort his life out".

The 39-year-old actor, who plays pub landlord Mick Carter in the BBC soap, joined the Walford-based soap in 2013 and proved a popular addition, having remained behind the bar at the Queen Victoria pub ever since.

His short hiatus is a major concern for 'Enders bosses since he is central to a number of storylines on the show as its main male star. He also fronted his own show, Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men.

Danny had hinted last month about leaving the show as his current contract is up for renewal later in the year. There is an enforced break that is expected to last a number of weeks. I'd love to show other sides to me. A lot of scripts had to be torn up and it's caused a lot of behind-the-scenes chaos.

We were beginning to think the dad-of-three really will be the next Doctor Who.

"I thought it would make you hate me and that would make this easier", Lee sobbed.

Earlier today, it was confirmed that Eastenders bosses had (v. politely) asked if Danny Dyer would temporarily like to "GET OUT OF THEIR PUB". "I mean, I did try to give up drinking but, as you can see, I'm now sucking on a lager".

"We'll have to see then [at the end of the contract]', he said".

What do you think will happen with Lee and Mick Carter?
