Ex-WWE Exec Linda McMahon Confirmed By Senate

WASHINGTON DC- JANUARY 24 Linda McMahon U.S. President Donald Trump's nominee to be administrator of the Small Business Administration is sworn in prior to testimony before the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee

Linda McMahon was sworn in as the head of the Small Business Administration on Tuesday, and a photo of her family meeting with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office has begun spreading across social media. The AP reports that the vote for Linda was 81-19 earlier today.

McMahon, 68, has no government experience but Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said her background as leader of the WWE, which grew to $659 million in revenue in 2015, would help small businesses. "I would also like to express my appreciation to Joe Loddo for his leadership as Acting Administrator during this transition, along with everyone at the SBA for the hard work they are doing to support America's small businesses".

She lost races in 2010 and 2012, spending almost $100 million of her own money on the campaigns, but both of her Democratic opponents from Connecticut - Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy - endorsed her nomination to lead the Small Business Administration.

McMahon's confirmation was a rare display of bipartisanship in an increasingly divided political landscape. "Banks are strong supporters of the SBA Advantage and SBA Grow loan programs and back increased funding to ensure small businesses have access to affordable credit".

Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy - who each defeated McMahon when she ran for the U.S. Senate - introduced the nominee at her confirmation hearing last month, helping to quell concerns among Democrats about the WWE's hiring practices and use of contract workers who are not covered by health insurance. She lost races in 2010 and 2012, spending almost $100 million of her own money on the campaigns. Linda McMahon left the company in 2009 to campaign for election to the U.S. Senate.
