Ivanka and husband veto Trump's anti-LGBT executive orders

The author of the Politico report, Annie Karni, told Shepard Smith this afternoon that the first daughter and her husband, a close advisor to Trump, pushed the administration to release the statement.

After her father won presidential election, it was reported that Ivanka would not take on a role in the White House and will concentrate on settling her family in Washington, D.C. Ivanka and Kushner were also reported to take their wide-ranging financial portfolios before moving to the country's capital from NY and face inevitable questions about a potential conflict of interest.

After a draft of the order was floated and outrage quickly expressed by activists and others, The White House issued a statement saying Trump would not reverse protections for LGBTI workers implemented for former President Barack Obama. "That's where the decision is ultimately being made".

Trump is determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community.

Sources close to the couple told the website that the two urged Trump instead to make a clear statement to the LGBTQ community that the federal protections would remain.

After a draft executive order leaked and went public, the LGBT community was braced for an executive order that would take away their protections against discrimination by businesses.

A draft executive order on LGBT rights that outlines how to roll back former President Barack Obama's protections and expand legal exemptions based on religious beliefs has been circulating among journalists and anxious progressive groups this week.

Some of Trump's supporters have links to the anti-Semitic far right movement known as alt-right, and he's a favorite of prominent white supremacist David Duke.

That White House insiders are writing up executive orders like Christmas wish lists-especially orders that curtail freedom-is hardly reassuring.

"It remains to be seen if she actually does influence her father on policy, although the LGBT executive order is a first, small example of how she might be doing that", Karni said.

"I think they're going to address the conflict that exists now, which would preclude religious organizations from contracting with the federal government", Family Research Council CEO Tony Perkins told the Times. "I'm talking to people in the Trump administration, and I know they understand the importance of this".
