Kremlin suggests possible Trump-Putin meeting before G20 in July

The Kremlin has announced that there is still no agreement about President Vladimir Putin's first official meeting with his US counterpart Donald Trump, however the two will definitely meet at the G20 summit in July.

"About the possible meeting between Putin and Trump there still no concrete details", Peskov told journalists on Monday. "We come with the assumption that in July of this year there is the G20 in Germany, where the presidents will meet one way or another".

"We (earlier in an official statement) said everything what we wanted to say on the outcome of the phone conversation that you mentioned", Peskov told reporters.

The two sides recently had a phone conversation, that was assessed by many in Moscow and in Washington as a "good start", and a significant shift in dialogue.

Flynn was a strong advocate for the need for softer foreign policy towards Russia and his departure could slow Trump's pledge to improve relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "At the same time, he fully expects to and wants to get along with Russian Federation".

The new USA administration is under pressure over Russia however because Michael Flynn, Trump's national security adviser, is struggling to get past a controversy over a call he had with the Russian ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak before Trump took office. Last week, Flynn denied discussing sanctions with Kislyak.

"Obviously every ambassador informs the center [Moscow] about all the contacts he has so the information gets to us, but we are not willing to comment on internal discussions being held in Washington", Peskov said, according to Reuters.
