No other country to be added to travel ban: Homeland Security Secretary

According to NBC News, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly told the House Homeland Security Committee this on Tuesday.

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says the US needs to "do a better job to vet" residents of seven majority-Muslim countries that the Trump administration has temporarily banned from entering the U.S. It's very hard to truly vet these people in these countries, the seven countries.

Kelly said the administration is considering requiring residents of the seven countries to provide lists of the websites they've visited and their passwords, to enable officials "to get on those websites to see what they're looking at".

"I believe the vetting on the other end is not adequate to protect the nation and then of course we are considering other measures adding to the vetting on the other end", said Kelly.

He said the seven countries - Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Somalia, Libya and Yemen - are unable to vet their citizens and "provide us with information that we're comfortable with".

Kelly said that obtaining passwords are "the things that we're thinking about" implementing.

In June past year the DHS wanted to include social media information on the I-94 and I-94W arrival and departure forms that all visitors to the USA fill in, whether they're arriving under the Visa Waiver Program or on a non-immigrant visa.

"When someone says, 'I'm from this town and this was my occupation, ' [officials] essentially have to take the word of the individual", he added.

A week ago, while signing the order, President Donald Trump called it a needed move to keep terrorists from entering the US.

"We're looking at some enhanced or some additional screening". The logic is that these records will help the government ascertain the money trail, how a person is living and who sends them the money.

Immigration attorneys said during the confusion of this travel ban that some of their clients were forced to give up their passwords and were asked about religious and political affiliations.
