Shahid Afridi Announces His Retirement Again, Twitter Can't Stop Trolling Him

Soon after Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi announced his retirement from global cricket, social media was abuzz with jokes about him making a comeback soon.

Afridi retired from Test cricket back in 2010 and walked away from ODIs in 2015, but he had continued playing Twenty20 Internationals until the end of last year's World Twenty20.

Now, he has chose to call it quits from the T20 format after a smashing 28-ball 54-run performance in a Pakistan Super League match in Sharjah.

Afridi, who said he will continue playing domestic T20 cricket, added: "I am playing for my fans and will continue for another two years".

'Now my foundation is important for me. I have played for my country professionally and have done whatever I could.

There were reports Afridi was interested in a farewell global before he quits the shortest format.

The 36-year-old however, will continue to play in the PSL for the next two years.

After retirement from three forms of cricket, Afridi will only play in Pakistan Super League.

Afridi holds the record for the most wickets at the World T20 tournament and his unbeaten fifty in the 2009 World T20 final powered Pakistan to their first major title since 1992. That, however, didn't pan out and it would seem now that Afridi has put the matter to rest. He has, after six matches, only one wicket this season, though his economy rate has been good. He was also banned for two Twenty20 internationals after he was shown on television biting the ball during a one-day worldwide against Australia at Perth in 2010.

The all-rounder has also taken more wickets in T20 internationals than any other player with 97, while his total of 1,405 runs is the 17th most by a batsman in the format.
