Tips, reward increase since suspect audio released in Delphi double homicide

Police called 14-year-old Libby German a hero for capturing a recording of the suspect or suspects before her death

Liberty and Abigail's bodies were found on the edge of a creek in Delphi, Indiana, after disappearing last Monday.

Police in IN have released an image of a man seen walking by the trail, who they believe is the main suspect in the case.

The girls - German, 14, and Abigail "Abby" Williams, 13, both of Carroll County - were reported missing by their families February 13 after the two did not return from a hike.

On Wednesday, the Delphi Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police and FBI provided an update on the investigation. Their bodies were were found the next day by volunteers who were helping to search for them.

Previously he was labeled a person of interest, and police had said he might be only a witness to the crime.

A looped audio recording from Liberty German's cell phone, made available by the Indiana State Police. According to police, in one video clip a man can be heard saying "down the hill", presumably instructing the terrified teenagers to do as he said before ending their lives. He is dressed in jeans, blue jacket and a hat. Law enforcement is investigating the case as a double homicide.

Authorities released an audio clip they say contains the voice of the suspect wanted in the kidnapping and murder of two in teenagers whose bodies were discovered near a walking trial by an abandoned railroad bridge last week. The audio and photo released of a suspect were taken from the cell phone of one of the victims, Libby German. "Why Delphi? Why Carroll County?" state police superintendent Doug Carter said with a wavering voice.

Authorities said Wednesday both the audio recording and the suspect photos came from German's cellphone.

A $41,000 reward is being offered for information that helps solve the case, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced this week.

Investigators said there is no indication of a serial murder because of no ties to known homicides.

"But you may tell us who the right person was". Police said information can be reported anonymously.
