8 new features Android O will bring to your phone

Android 7.1.2 also has something in store for the Pixel C, the last remaining Google Android tablet. However, Google has pleasantly surprised users by pushing out the beta 2 for the Android 7.1.2 Nougat. For example, the developer of a messaging app "might setup separate notification channels for each conversation group created by a user". Currently, you can only turn an app's notifications on or off.

Google has also shown off a number of other new additions in Android O, including a picture-in-picture mode for phones, following a launch on tablet devices previous year.

Just as it did a year ago, Google released a developer version of Android O in March, so we expect May's Google I/O developer conference to feature a deeper dive into the update. The PiP windows will have support for playback controls too. It'll be most useful for media players and video conferencing solutions. Picture-in-picture mode on iOS is just on the iPad, and we are thinking it will be available only for the Android tablets as well. Google says it built new "arrow" and "tab" predictable models for keyboard navigation. This version of Android is said to be the second largest in the market. "Android O" is still in its early stages, but it is distinct from its predecessor in several ways that could change the way you interact with your Android. This could enable existing password management solutions like LastPass to integrate directly with the operating system. Background limits represent a significant change in Android, so we want every developer to get familiar with them.

Adaptive icons allow developers to pick a base background image that Android will use to conform its shape to mesh with your given home screen theme. The best of the restAndroid O is still many months away from being publicly launched and it's expected Google will add more features before the summer. Multi-display support is coming to Android as well, though the use cases for this are probably tied to Chromebooks running Android apps. Now, in Android O, users can do two of these things at once.

Though most Android users are only now starting to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update for their mobile devices, the latest reports suggest that Google is already hard at work on the next version of its mobile operating system (OS) - Android O. So you should know that this will be entirely on you, and if you don't know what you're doing you could very easily brick your device. Google warned the build is not intended for consumer use.
