Australia resume bitter battle as 3rd Test begins in Ranchi today

"So we're all excited about this test match".

Asking for strict measures to cut down on aggressive banter, Chappell said India captain Virat Kohli needs to keep his emotions in check.

"I feel like I have played a lot, bowled a lot of overs, a lot of times had to back up day after day and the body has been recovering really well", Cummins, who has had an unchecked run since returning in October, said. "To actually carry that tradition forward is a great honour for me", Ashwin said. "I don't regret anything that I've said, but at the same time it's very important not to be stupid and go on with the same thing on a daily basis", Kohli said.

"There was a decent break in between and we certainly don't want to sit and think about one issue all the time". After all, it is not as if a Test series between these two sides wants for publicity, the cricket played already having been riveting in its many twists and turns. "I think he was wrong". We have seen instances in the past stretch too long and it just causes disharmony and there is no outcome, honestly. I think it's good for everybody that everyone moves on because you'll always have two sides of the coin; one side will say one thing the other side will say another and that just takes the focus away from the game that we all are sitting here because of.

Following the end of the test won by India, captain Virat Kohli alleged his Australian counterpart Steve Smith had flouted the rules on reviewing umpire decisions.

"Try and build pressure, perhaps take wickets in different ways", said Smith.

This irked Australia coach Darren Lehmann even further as they were in no mood to leave without getting to see the entire pitch.

As the puppy, the kitten and the panda are among internet's favourite animals (also, look at the pictures they have used), it was obvious that people would choose Virat as the "villain" here. Both men may have pledged to make cricket the No.1 focus in the third Test, however the tension between the pair is palpable. Smith called it a brain-fade moment, Ashwin compared the episode to an U-10 match, Australia coach Darren Lehmann asserted that the Aussies couldn't stoop so low ("never ever ever") while Sunil Gavaskar chided the ICC for not taking any action against Smith.

"In regards that we do it consistently is absolute rubbish in my opinion". So I don't think forgetting the wicket is probably the right way around it.

For his part, Smith said there was no lingering bitterness in his team over the incident. Although, the second Test lasted for four days, the bounce was found uneven on the wicket and that may have forced the match referee to give such a rating. Without doubt, this game will be a test of character for each and every Australian, be it Smith, David Warner, Matt Renshaw or Peter Handscomb, as they need to ensure their prospects in the series are not fading further and that the triumph in Pune was no fluke.

Sure, the BCCI and Cricket Australia came together to sort out this mess before it got out of hand.

The series is locked at 1-1 with the top 2 sides grinding it out for supremacy on hard tracks. "We all are excited about this Test match and hopefully it will be a good one".
