BBC interviewee interrupted by own children responds to racism row

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway hilariously TROLL Professor Robert Kelly's BBC News blunder

While Kelly blames himself for not locking the door, he and his wife say they never scolded the children for the incident.

"We did. Everybody we know seems to think it's pretty hysterical". She was in a hippity-hoppity mood that day because of a school party.

The American academic was talking from his apartment in Busan, South Korea, to BBC World News via Skype last Friday, when his four-year-old daughter Marion opened the door to her dad's office.

The internet's favorite family is here, and they're speaking out about going viral. Because this particular "comedy of errors," as Kelly described his interview, is basically all of us. "I mean, it was terribly cute", Kelly said, noting that his wife's valiant effort to solve the problem was also amusing. Then, their lives changed nearly immediately, and they had to put their phones on airplane mode because of all the demand.

Professor Robert Kelly will go down in history for conducting one of the most memorable interviews of the internet age - all because it was crashed by his cute little toddler!

The couple involved in a BBC interview that went viral after their kids interrupted it live on air have responded to suggestions of racism over an element of the public's response to the clip.

"He usually locks the door", Kelly's wife said.

In the finest showbiz tradition of keeping the show on the road, Kelly valiantly attempted to guide Marion towards some toys, while hoping the broadcaster might narrow the camera angle or use some video of Park Geun-hye.

An expert on South Korea, Prof Kelly had been speaking to the BBC via a live broadcast from his home when his two children - Marion and James - made a decision to crash the interview.

"Yes, I was mortified, but I also want my kids to feel comfortable coming to me", he said.

It also generated a bit of controversy when some assumed that Kim was the family nanny, not the exasperated stay-at-home mom.

It started when a video of worldwide relations professor Robert Kelly's interview about South Korea on BBC began circulating online. "I saw the video just like everyone else, and it is really amusing".

"My wife did a great job cleaning up a really unanticipated situation as best as she possibly could. It was amusing", said Kelly.
