Browns would trade 12th overall pick for Jimmy Garoppolo

Report: New England Patriots want two first-rounders for Jimmy Garoppolo

While there may be pressure on the Patriots to get something in return for Garoppolo with his free agency one year away, the situation isn't dire just yet.

According to NFL Media's Mike Garafolo speaking on the NFL Network Tuesday afternoon, the Patriots would need to get a first-round pick in 2017 and a first-round pick in 2018 in order to deal him.

In addition to Cleveland, both the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have have been linked to Garoppolo. Now add in the fact that Garoppolo has two career starts under his belt, and this is magnified even further.

Then there's Garoppolo's contract status - going into his fourth and final year of his rookie deal.

In two starts this past season, Garoppolo completed 68.3 percent of his passes for over 500 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He too was unsure of the Patriots price tag, but did say that, "o$3 ne working theory has been a first- and second-round draft pick, but not all first- and second-rounders are created equal".

The Browns also hold the Philadelphia Eagles second round pick in next year's draft. I think everyone needs to see more from Garoppolo before giving up that much for him. 1 and 12 picks in the first round, and Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes a first round involving a Myles Garrett pick and trade for Garoppolo would be the Browns' dream scenario. He said there has been interest, but the Patriots, "won't unload Garoppolo unless a team meets their price". Suddenly there's talk of a first-round pick this year and one next year. For Belichick and the Patriots, it's to their advantage that they are in the great position of being Super Bowl champs with no pressure on them to have to make a deal in order to acquire high draft picks so they can improve.
