Chicago girl allegedly sexually assaulted on Facebook Live as 40 watched

A spokeswoman for Facebook, Andrea Saul, said she had no specific comment on the Chicago incident but that the company takes its “responsibility to keep people safe on Facebook very seriously.”.

Rape culture is truly infuriating.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department recently declared that the 15-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped, raped by several men while broadcasting live on Facebook, is now receiving death threats from unknown persons.

A mother confronted Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson outside a police station to report her missing daughter.

The girl, 15, was found by officers and reunited with her family, a police spokesman said on Twitter. The girl told the authorities that she knew one of them.

Around 40 people were said to have been watching the livestream but nobody reported the incident to police. "I just want to make sure she's okay cause I know she's probably scared and embarrassed".

On Tuesday, March 21, the girl was found at a few blocks from her home and taken to a nearby hospital after being reuinted with her mom.

The is the second time in recent months that Chicago Police Department have been called to investigate an apparent attack that was streamed live on Facebook.

Andrew Holmes, a local activist who helped the mother get video of the attack to the police, says it shows a frightened girl who was resisting. According to the victim's uncle, the teen was in "good condition", but she suffered injuries from the attack, including a busted lip and puffy cheeks.

Activist Andrew Holmes ultimately brought the video to the police, who are now investigating the crime.

"What's even more disturbing - more than the fact that they did this - (is that) there were so many people that saw this and they didn't pick up the phone and dial 911", Johnson told WGN on Monday.

It was the latest in a series of troubling incidents in which violent acts have been streamed live on Facebook, including two fatal shootings and the kidnapping and torture of a disabled 18-year-old.

"Crimes like this are disgusting and we do not allow that kind of content on Facebook".
