India's tallest Tricolour 360 feet high hoisted at Attari border

Amritsar: India has hoisted the tallest tricolour at a distance of about 150 metres from the India-Pakistan border.

The new tricolor flag is hoisted on a 360 feet high pole where the length of the flag is 120 feet and the breadth is 80 feet. Before this, Ranchi had the record of nations tallest tricolor which is 293 feet high.

Pakistan is reportedly not happy with India yesterday installing what is its tallest and heaviest flag that can be seen from Lahore. An estimated Rs 3.50 crore rupees were spent on the project by the Punjab government.

Thus, Pakistan is not happy with India's decision to hoist tricolour at the worldwide border and fears that it can be used for spying in their territory.

BSF officials said that Pakistan Rangers had voiced their concerns during a flag meeting, as per the report. Amritsar already has a 170-foot high flag post, in the Ranjit Avenue Public Park. It was hoisted by Anil Joshi, the Punjab Local Bodies Minister, and BJP Leader.

"Due to the Code of Conduct is in place in the state the minister has availed special permission from the Election Commission of India for the inauguration". Pakistan has also made India aware that it suspects the flag may be fitted with cameras to spy on Pakistan.

It is near the Attari-Wagah worldwide border with Pakistan, which is also a major tourist spot to witness the flag lowering ceremony daily.

Pakistan on Thursday had raised objections terming it an act of violation of global treaties. "It is our national flag and nobody can stop us from hoisting it on our soil", said Joshi.
