Clinton shares thoughts on Syria at fundraiser in Houston

Hillary Clinton called on President Donald Trump's administration Friday to develop a strategy to end Syria's civil war in a manner consistent with American values, following a United States missile strike on the country late Thursday.

Clinton was greeted with a warm welcome at the Women in the World Summit in NY, according to AFP, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd. But it is fair to say as you just did that certainly, misogyny played a role. That just has to be admitted.

The Women in the World conference in NY was the first public interview given by Clinton since she lost the Presidential Election. I'm hopeful that the Congress will pull together and realize that because of the success the Kremlin feels it's had they're not going to go away.

Clinton said family and friends "rallied around me in an fantastic way" and used the platform Thursday to level barbs against the Trump administration, which she said was going through "some very public growing pains". "As an American I'm pretty anxious", she said. In her first interview since she lost, Clinton said she "wrestles" with the fact that her gender did influence the results. Her own 9-point loss to Trump in Texas, she said, was the closest presidential election in the state in two decades.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, she said, wanted to destabilise Europe, NATO and the United States and was personally opposed to her after she criticised Russian elections while secretary of state.

"Syria has been a wicked problem for a very long time, and the images of innocent people, of parents, and especially of children, suffering in the aftermath of that most recent deadly gas attack, were more appalling than I certainly could put into words", she said at the Texas event.

"He's not exactly fond of strong women", she said of Putin.

"I am looking at doing interesting things - I don't think that will include ever running for office again", she added.
