Flynn Not Upfront in Disclosure Form About Income From Russia-Linked Companies

This week, the White House latched onto a month-old television interview from an Obama administration official who said she encouraged congressional aides to gather as much information on Russian Federation as possible before the inauguration.

Nunes visited the White House last week to brief President Trump after he said he learned that the US intelligence community had incidentally collected information on members of his transition team.

Flynn, President Donald Trump's ousted national security advisor, says he is willing to testify before congressional and federal investigators as they look into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation on the condition he gets immunity.

Congressional committees, along with the FBI, are investigating what USA intelligence agencies have concluded were attempts by Russian Federation to influence the November 8 presidential election in Trump's favor.

Donald Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, has offered to testify before congressional committees probing potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation but wants protection against "unfair prosecution", his lawyer said on Thursday.

Schiff had on Friday was allowed to see documents at the White House that previously had been seen only by the Republican chairman of the intelligence committee. "I can say I don't agree with the chairman's characterization". In a later press conference, he ignored questions about the meaning behind the tweet. "The question is of course why?" Schiff said. "There's nothing ordinary about the process that was used here at all".

Schiff has called for Nunes to step down from his role leading the committee's investigation into alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 election. He said the investigation needs to be conducted in a more professional, less partisan manner.

Seth Abramson, a former attorney turned academic and journalist, said that a number of aspects of Mr Flynn's request were "bizarre". I was very clear and transparent with all of you, and the statement still stands - which is: "I had a duty and obligation to go tell the President of the United States". "I am just saying that they need to be thoroughly investigated, and we have reached a level where a select committee or even a commission is necessary". "At this point, I can't say whether anything was masked or unmasked improperly", he said.

"[Trump's] tweets tell the story, and the story is 'Look over there at leaks, ' and 'Look over there at anything the Obama administration, we can claim, did wrong on incidental collection or anything else ― but whatever you do, under no circumstances look here at me or at Russia, '" Schiff continued.

"While I can not discuss the content of the documents", Schiff said, "if the White House had any concern over these materials, they should have been shared with the full (House and Senate intelligence) committees in the first place as a part of our ordinary oversight responsibilities". "We are still at the very early stages of the investigation".
