Google Maps lets you play Ms. Pac-Man for April Fools'

Where does April Fools' Day come from

You can also chose new locations to play like Los Angeles or Paris, and for the web version, you can pick your own levels beyond just your local streets.

First out of the gate, as far as we can tell, is Google Maps. As soon as you open the app on you mobile device, you should be able to see an icon towards the bottom right corner of the screen with a familiar yellow head and red bow.

Google Maps Ms Pac-Man is available on both Android and iOS, though some users are reporting slight differences between the two versions. As soon as you swipe in any direction, the game starts. You'll see a button on there that either looks like Ms. Pac-Man or says "Insert Coin".

For those unfamiliar, Ms. Pac-Man is an arcade video game from the Golden Age.

April Fools Day can be a divisive time. The exhausted jokes, outrage-baiting hoaxes and humorless "pranks" are bad enough in the best of times, but in an era where we deal with fake news on a daily basis?

In 2015, Google made an awesome prank that turned Google Maps into a game of Pac-Man. This became hugely popular and was later put back online just so people could keep playing it.

Android owners will be taken to a random location (Ghana is pictured above) where they can play the familiar game using a route based on the city streets.

It's the equivalent of Google Home and tells users the weather, what plants are edible and reminds humanity that we're all destined to become compost. Ms. Pac-Man went on to become the most successful American-produced arcade game, selling 115,000 arcade cabinets.
