Hear Prince's unreleased song 'Deliverance,' from a new six-song EP

NEW UNDISCOVERED PRINCE RECORDINGS TO BE RELEASED THIS FRIDAY WITH “DELIVERANCE” EP

The songs were co-produced by Prince and Ian Boxill, who finished the songs over the past year.

"In light of the one-year anniversary of his passing, I hope when people hear Prince singing these songs it will bring comfort to many", Boxhill said in the release. He said that they made a decision to go independent with the release because he believes Prince would have wanted to "get his music directly to the public". "When considering how to release this important work, we chose to go independent because that's what Prince would have wanted".

You can pre-order the EP for a mere $3.99, but the songs won't be available until April 21.

This is published unedited from the PTI feed.

The Deliverance album features previously unreleased Prince tracks: Deliverance, I Am, Touch Me, Sunrise Sunset, No One Else and an extended version of I Am. He recorded them as a protest to what he saw as an unjust music industry.

A rep for Universal, which technically could have rights to the recordings under the terms of the deal it is now trying to get out of, declined comment; a rep for Prince's estate did not respond to requests for comment.

Deliverance will be released nationwide June 2 at major retailers, including Target and Walmart.

A Prince fansite says that another song, "I Am", which appears in a two-minute-24-second version and an extended take that runs almost four minutes, is likely the same song that was recorded by blues guitarist Jonny Lang and Elisa Fiorillo, who sang backup on Prince's Batman, Graffiti Bridge and Diamonds and Pearls. The "label" for these releases is called Rogue Music Alliance. The Vancouver, Wash., company is owned by recording artists Gabriel Wilson and David Staley. RMA is a model in which the record label never makes more money from the artist's work than the artist does.
