Hillary Clinton cites 'misogyny' as cause for her defeat

HILLARY CLINTON: I don't know that there is one answer.

Clinton helped turn Harris County blue last November despite under-performing national expectations, defeating Trump by more than 12 points and carrying local Democrats with her.

"As I said yesterday (Thursday) it is essential that the world does more to deter Assad from committing future murderous atrocities", Clinton said at a luncheon in Houston.

In her first major speaking appearance since losing the 2016 U.S. election, Hillary Clinton opened up about her failed bid to the White House, reflecting that a Kremlin-led misinformation campaign, an unfortunately-timed letter from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and WikiLeaks were all partially to blame.

In an interview with Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times, Clinton blamed the loss on four factors, NBC News observes.

"Certainly, misogyny played a role".

I think in this election there was a very real struggle between what is viewed as change. that is it welcomed and exciting to so many Americans, and change which is worrisome to many others.

It came as the USA on Thursday night struck the Shairat airbase in a response to the chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians in Idlib province.

Curiously, she made that observation in response to a question about why white women didn't vote for her.

Clinton's support for Trump's strike against Syria is unsurprising.

Regarding the WikiLeaks disclosure of stolen emails from the personal account of her campaign chairman, John Podesta, she said it "played a much bigger role than I think many people yet understand".

"The targeting of women - which is what is going on - is absolutely beyond any political agenda", Clinton said.

"The things that come out of some of these men's mouths, like why do we have to cover maternity care?" Oh, and she revealed that she is working on another book.

Clinton said she has no intention of another run for public office and said she is writing a book that, in part, delves into what derailed her attempt to become America's first woman president. "I am looking at doing interesting things, and I don't think that will ever include running for office again, as interesting as I find that to be".

And when asked about her life, she said: "As a person, I'm okay".
