House chairman skeptical of conservatives' health care idea

Lawmakers head home after health care fail

Conservatives praised Young for his opposition to the bill that would have undone much of Barack Obama's health care law.

Club officials had said they will spend $1 million on national ads on television and online.

"We're very close", Meadows told WHKP-AM, referring to the likelihood of Republicans ironing out a deal on health care. "It lowers premiums by giving IL the freedom to end Obamacare's costly and ridiculous rules".

Before members left Washington, Republicans unveiled a late change to the health care bill, called the American Health Care Act, after President Donald Trump urged them to make some progress on the proposal. "Professional politicians like Congressman Greg Walden".

In a major setback for the GOP, Ryan withdrew the bill after Trump and leadership failed to convince enough House Republicans to back the legislation.

The conservative Club for Growth is targeting powerful committee chairmen and other top Republicans, part of an aggressive ad campaign to rally support for the GOP's struggling health care overhaul effort. "I don't have the luxury of a D.C. special interest group, which was against the bill before they were for it". Had the Republican health bill passed, these people would have been stripped of their health care.

However, another representative another on the receiving end, Oregon Rep.

The administration made numerous trips to Capitol Hill in an attempt to bring conservatives and moderates together, but House leadership remained short on votes before leaving for Easter recess Thursday.

But conservative and centrist Republicans have continued to discuss the path forward for health care reform with fellow lawmakers, the White House, and even Democrats in hopes of brokering a deal.

Congress is in recess both this week and next week, but make no mistake: Members are still hard at work drafting a replacement bill.
