LeBron to miss regular-season finale, resting strained calf

Brian Windhorst Cavs Aren't Having Any FunMore

"It's time to put up or shut up and I think we'll put up". To some, at least. Well, we don't need to talk about it then.

"I mean, I wish we had another 10 games", Frye said. We've got to be prepared for that.

So have some fans, who told me about paying big bucks to watch a team sleep-walk through some games at Quicken Loans Arena. That's just my take on it. "For us going forward, if we're going to make a long run and deep into these playoffs, those guys being healthy is the most important thing".

It's been so hard to do that during the regular season.

"They're the champs for a reason", Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry said Wednesday night after Toronto beat Cleveland. Four straight losses to finish out the regular season helped land Cleveland the No.2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, which wouldn't exactly matter if the Cavs looked playoff ready.

By the time the Cavs arrived in Miami on Monday, they had pretty much conceded the East to Boston by resting LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. "Get everybody on the floor, get some cardio in and try and work on some habits and that's what (Wednesday) is basically about".

They undoubtedly will be favored to meet either Golden State or San Antonio in the NBA Finals in June.

"For me, it's never been about trying to get the No. 1 seed", he said Sunday.

"We have a good club going to the postseason and that's all I can ask for right now. When we're healthy and put a game plan together, we can compete against anybody in this league". The Cavs have shown their ceiling as recently as the past week - that ceiling is high. Past year was a coaching change at midseason when Tyronne Lue replaced David Blatt, along with an upheaval of the roster. As Korver has scored over 20 points and made 14-17 three-pointers in the two games he has played against the Pacers since he joined Cleveland.

NOTES: Raptors C Jonas Valanciunas connected on his first 3-pointer this season, with 5:18 left in the second quarter. It would have gotten Miami within eight going into the fourth. They delegitimize Love's Grant Hill-like outlet pass to James for a buzzer-beating 3 against the Wizards.

So now some doubt is creeping in as to whether or not the Cavs can just waltz their way to the NBA Finals for a third consecutive year.

Is it tempting to write off the Cavs? He played in more than 60 games in just one of those seasons, with his best year coming in 2012-13 when he averaged 9.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. A 73-win team seemingly got better after winning a title in 2015.

There is doubt, even within the Cavs' locker room, about the product we've seen thus far. "Like I said, we've had some bright spots, so that's what gives you hope". For days if not weeks, the Cavs had longed for the playoffs to begin, especially during a season that James called "strange".

In many ways, the Cavs are the superior team, but there is something to be said about how both teams seemed to flip roles down the stretch with IN becoming the hottest IN the East while Cleveland staggered.
