Mets' Cespedes limps off with hamstring cramp

Travis d’Arnaud leaves game with right wrist contusionMore

On Thursday, Mets manager Terry Collins announced that Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores are out and do not have a set timetable for a possible return, per Newsday's Laura Albanese.

Duda hurt his elbow on a play to first base in the fifth inning during the Mets' 5-4 win against the Phillies on Wednesday night.

Per Steve Gelbs of SportsNet New York, Cespedes was removed after pulling up running between first and second base and then "limped off the field and down into the tunnel". Shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera was out of the lineup, too, with a hamstring problem and catcher Travis d'Arnaud was sidelined with a bruised right wrist.

"We'll grind it out - we always have, we always will", Collins said following the game Thursday.

Despite the absence, it's encouraging that Cespedes hasn't been placed on the disabled list.

The incomplete lineup hasn't slowed the Nationals, who have scored 26 runs during their winning streak - thanks largely to a resurgent performance from Ryan Zimmerman. "I can afford to lose you for a day, maybe two, not for three or four weeks".

Including tonight's game, Cespedes has hit six home runs, and driven in 10 RBIs on a.263 batting average on the young season. His concentration is high and he feels good about himself.

Michael Conforto has tremendous upside as a hitter, but Collins didn't seem comfortable giving him consistent playing time previous year.

Moreover, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal tweeted that starter Jacob deGrom had to have his start pushed back to Saturday due to neck stifness.

DeGrom doesn't have a decision in three starts this season despite a 1.89 ERA. Syndergaard was his dominant self, striking out 10 Phillies and walking none in seven innings. He is 6-2 with a 2.47 ERA in 15 career games (nine starts) against the Mets.
