North Korea may have sarin-laced missiles, Japan warns

South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said Friday that North Korea's nuclear threat has risen to a "new level of seriousness", as the South entered a heightened state of alert over a tense standoff between Pyongyang and the United States.

Meanwhile, Air China, China's national airline, has denied that it has suspended all flights to North Korea's capital, Pyongyang, as was reported by broadcaster CCTV. North Korea conducted its fifth and most powerful nuclear test last September.

"I think he wants to help us with North Korea", Trump said of Xi, crediting China in a White House news conference with taking a "big step" by turning back boats of coal that North Korea sells to its northern neighbor.

In addition, the country will commemorate the 105th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Kim Il-sung, on Saturday and the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army on April 25.

While much attention is paid to Pyongyang's threats of striking the USA mainland with intercontinental ballistic missiles, South Korea and Japan are the most at risk of North Korean attack.

A 2012 report by the U.S. department of defense said that "North Korea probably has a longstanding chemical weapons program with the capability to produce nerve, blister, blood and choking agents and likely possesses a (chemical weapons) stockpile".

The rising tension and the Trump administration's more assertive policy toward North Korea are apparently helping Abe's government gain public support for a stronger defense. The U.S. could launch a devastating attack but could not stop the North Korean military from firing off enough salvos to wreck horrendous destruction, which is why Defense Secretary Jim Mattis sounds so diplomatic.

The e-mail notice, dated Thursday, instructs school administrators to gather information about the situation regarding North Korea from Japanese diplomatic offices and local authorities to keep their students safe, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Hirokazu Matsuno told a parliamentary committee. North Korean Premier Pak Pong Ju said the project "incorporates the latest architectural science and technology, including solar and geothermal technology, and the greening of roofs and walls".

The event was presided by leader Kim Jong Un and witnessed by thousands, including around 200 foreign journalists who were invited by the regime.
