Police and public join forces to remember London victims

Wife of London attacker'saddened and shocked by husband's actions

In a statement released through the Metropolitan Police, Ms Hydara said: "I am saddened and shocked by what Khalid has done".

Another woman who was there, Sarah Waseem, said the Islam faith "totally condemns violence of any sort".

Adjourning the inquest for police to carry out their investigations, Dr Wilcox told the family members in the court: "I wish you all well".

The police officer killed in the Westminster terror attack died after being stabbed in the chest, despite wearing body armour.

British officials have also demanded tech firms do more to allow police access to smartphone communications after reports that Khalid Masood had used encrypted messaging via WhatsApp before he drove a rented vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and stabbed to death a police officer by parliament.

Although the Islamic State group later described Masood as a "soldier of the Islamic State", observers and experts expressed scepticism at the validity of their claim over the attack.

On Monday, the Met said Masood had a clear interest in terror and his methods echoed the rhetoric of ISIS leaders.

It was confirmed that Mr. Masood was pronounced dead at 15.35 on 22nd March and died of a gun shot to the chest.

More than 35 people were injured.

An inquest into his four victims, Pc Palmer, 48, American tourist Kurt Cochran, 54, retired window cleaner Leslie Rhodes, 75, and Aysha Frade, 44, was opened and adjourned by Dr Fiona Wilcox on Wednesday.

However, the Met deputy assistant commissioner Neil Basu, who is also the senior national coordinator for United Kingdom counter-terrorism policing, said there was no evidence Masood had discussed the planning of his attack with others.

Moving pics show a policeman wiping away tears as officers flocked to the bridge to pay tribute - many holding white roses.

Mr Cochran and his wife Melissa, from Utah, were on the final day of a trip to London to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary when they were mown down on Westminster Bridge by Masood's auto.

Scotland Yard has urged anyone who was in contact with Masood on the day of the attack to come forward.

A 30-year-old man remains in custody in relation to the incident and a 32-year-old was released on bail.

An inquest into the deaths his victims will open on Wednesday.

His wife Melissa suffered a broken leg and rib and cuts to her head.

He tweeted a photo from his London office showing a sea of people at the vigil, which lasted throughout the afternoon.
