Praneeth enters maiden Super Series final at Singapore

Singapore Open PV Sindhu crashes out to Marin Srikanth and Praneeth enter semis

This was Praneeth's maiden Super Series title.

Praneeth is now only the second player from India to win the men's singles final of a Super Series. I could get the monkey off my back.

Asked what went through his mind when he won the winning point, he said: "To be honest, I was blank. It was a wonderful feeling". However, Praneeth was touch nervous on eve of the final.

Tai said she was pleased with her performance but unfazed by her Super Series streak. "I think maybe I lacked a little bit of match practice in the end". "Srikanth moved well and unleashed some good smashes". But the 24-year-old struggled at the start with the drift and looked down and out when he conceded a 7-2 lead after losing the first game.

Meanwhile, after suffering a loss at the Singapore Open Superseries, Kidambi Srikanth also took to social media to congratulate his opponent and state that it wasn't the result that he was hoping for. In the decider, Sai Praneeth quickly opened up a 16-9 lead and sealed the match. But this not deter the two to exploit every weakness that they knew in each other's game, putting up a brilliant skill show. My net game too improved. Lee managed to reduce the deficit to 4-10 before the Indian entered the break at 11-4. It was a ding-dong battle.

However, Andhra Pradesh right-hand player Praneeth fought hard to get the better of Thai eighth seed Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk. Explaining the logic behind his stand, Gopi Chand told Mirror, "According to me it is ok to go play those tournaments for exposure and ranking when you are 18-19".

In the final game, Praneeth opened up a 10-4 lead and never looked back as Srikanth made an error.

In fact, the Indian reeled off five straight points to turn the tables.

Sai Praneeth, a protege of former All England champion P. Gopichand, counts several famous wins over some of the game's greats in his resume.

Chief coach Pullela Gopichand said Praneeth played a smart game. "It's the reason why I have this medal today". "He played a very calculated game".
