Prince death investigation documents: Opioids found in several places in Paisley Park

A newly unsealed court document revealed that a doctor prescribed oxycodone for Prince using the name of the musician's friend. He was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park, his home and recording studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

A medical expert who predominantly treated Prince, named Doctor Michael Schulenberg, has reportedly admitted to prescribing the singer Oxycodone shortly before he reportedly overdosed on his private jet, which came nearly one week prior to his death. The goal was for the younger Kornfeld to help evaluate Prince's health and encourage him to enter treatment for pain management and potential addiction issues, attorney William Mauzy told reporters.

Authorities also searched Johnson's cellphone records, to see who he was communicating with in the month before Prince died.

Last October, a court order extended the seal on the search warrants and accompanying documents involved in the Prince death investigation until April 17, 2017.

Kornfeld calls 911 at 9:43 a.m. Emergency responders arrive five minutes later and pronounce him dead at 10:07 a.m. Schulenberg arrives at some point before police show up and tells an investigator that he was there to deliver test results to Prince, according to a search warrant.

According to the documents, Dr. Michael Schulenberg prescribed Prince Oxycodone a week before his death. They've also said there was an attempt to get Prince into rehab before he died.

Information in the warrants also revealed that investigators found a suitcase containing several prescription bottles in the name of Johnson, who told investigators previous year that the singer had been struggling with opiate use. A bodyguard carries Prince, who is unconscious, from the plane. Dr. Schulenberg met with Prince and prescribed him clonidine, hydroxyzine pamoate and diazepam, which were filled on April 20 at Walgreen's on County Road 101 in Minnetonka. They told investigators that Prince was recently "going through withdrawals, which are believed to be the result of the abuse of prescription medication".

Schulenberg's lawyer, Amy Conners, disputed that. And news that he died of an overdose of fentanyl - a synthetic drug 50 times more powerful than heroin - surprised and saddened those who knew him as someone with a reputation for clean living.

The late Prince was reportedly prescribed opioids under a false name by his doctor.

Last August, the Minneapolis Star Tribune quoted a source with knowledge of the investigation as saying that pills seized inside the compound by investigators were labeled as hydrocodone but actually contained fentanyl. Complaints typically take 90 to 120 days to resolve, she said. The medications were prescribed by Dr. Schulenberg. He and five others were searching for Prince when Kornfeld said he heard a scream.

Investigators have said little about the case over the past year, other than it is active. Celebrities frequently use aliases in hospitals and doctor's offices.

When authorities later checked a database set up to monitor who's getting prescriptions for controlled substances, they found nothing for Prince.
