Schiff Faults White House for Withholding Documents From House Committee

Rep. Devin Nunes speaks to thousands of farmers farm workers and their supporters who were at city hall to protest water shortages in July 2009 in Fresno Calif

A close advisor to Trump's 2016 campaign, Flynn was forced to step down from his White House job in February after misleading the vice president about conversations he had with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak after the election.

TRADE Trump will sign executive orders on Friday aimed at identifying abuses that are causing massive US trade deficits and clamping down on nonpayment of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on imports, his top trade officials say.

Spicer had previously dismissed the notion that the White House had fed information to Nunes, saying the idea that the congressman would come and brief Trump on material the president's team already had "doesn't pass the smell test".

Asking for immunity, said criminal lawyer Mark Bennett on Twitter, is "a reasonable stance for someone to take even if she hasn't done anything wrong - especially where. the grand jury's investigation appears to have political overtones".

On 22 March, Rep. Nunes told reporters that information was "incidentally collected" by USA spy agencies on President Trump's transition team, and those names were included in various intelligence reports.

"Congressman Nunes, we need a guard dog not a lap dog", one sign read, next to a protester holding another: "Get out of bed with Trump".

On Thursday, The New York Times identified Cohen-Watnick as one of two White House staffers who helped House intelligence chairman Devin Nunes view secret reports.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the committee's top Democrat, quickly pivoted to his call for Sally Yates, the former acting attorney general, who was sacked by Trump, to be allowed to testify.

Those officials reportedly found the material on classified systems, then shared it with Nunes outside the normal committee channels.

He noted that former Obama administration official Evelyn Farkas, a foreign policy expert, made comments before President Donald Trump's tweet that Trump Tower was surveilled by the Obama administration during the election, which "raised serious concerns on whether or not there was an organized and widespread effort by the Obama administration to use and leak highly sensitive intelligence information for political purposes". They were first named in reports by The New York Times and The Washington Post. And the story is, look over there at leaks, and look over there at anything we can claim that the Obama administration did wrong on incidental collection or anything else, but whatever you do, under no circumstances look here at me or at Russian Federation.

Nunes, however, shows no signs of giving up his leadership role.

"Day by day, more and more, we are seeing that the substance of what we've been talking about continues to move exactly in the direction the president spoke about in terms of surveillance that occurred". He later apologized to the committee for not first telling them about the information.

"I think we start out with a very healthy skepticism", Schiff said.

"I hope the President will bear in mind that the freedom caucus is going to provide the bulwark of the support the President needs on things like border security, trade agreements and making sure that the Trans-Pacific Partnership does not resurface in a different shape or fashion", Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks told CNN.

But Flynn is not the only member of Trump's advisors to have had contacts with Russian Federation during the campaign.
