Tornado warning issued for several Arkansas counties

Some of the afternoon/evening storms have the potential to be strong to severe.

Severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado watches have been issued for some portions of Central Georgia. The greatest concern for severe storms still appears to be Marion, Lamar, Winston, Walker, Fayette, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Sumter, Hale, and Greene Counties.

All modes of severe weather are possible, with an emphasis on damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. Some strong wind gusts will occur within the storms.

The region of greatest concern for severe weather (and especially tornadoes) will be along and east of Hwy 67 in Missouri up into metro St. Louis, especially metro east and then along and southeast of I-55 in IL.

Strong storms will develop Friday afternoon.

According to a National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook, the storm will pass through mainly "east of Interstate 85 and south of Interstate 20 this afternoon". The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Expect highs in the mid-80s with a partly cloudy sky. Some pockets of hail will be possible, but that threat should be a little more limited.

South Central United States is in for some severe weather during the coming weekend. A north northwest wind of 11 to 16 miles per hour will gust as high as 25 miles per hour. More sunshine Friday into Saturday and Sunday will send temperatures soaring to as high as 90ยบ in some areas.

Windy conditions are expected to continue through the week ahead of a cold front on Friday and Saturday.

All forms of severe weather will be possible Friday night.

Up to three inches of rain is likely by early next week.
