President Donald Trump did not give a definitive answer when asked by the New York Post on Tuesday whether he still has confidence in his chief strategist, Steve Bannon.

In the interview, Trump downplayed Bannon's role in his campaign, claiming that his chief strategist was not involved "until very late".

Trump said he had already jumped major hurdles in the campaign by that time, beating "all the senators and all the governors" before he met Bannon.

"It's a schizoid type of situation, and I don't know where he'll come down on it", said Cohen, who believes legalization should be left to states.

"Steve is a good guy, but I told them to straighten it out or I will", Trump told the newspaper.

Bannon originally served on the committee as a check against Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn before Flynn resigned as national security adviser, a top White House official told NBC News. Bannon interviewed Trump at least nine times in 2015 and 2016 and members of his family and campaign on many other occasions.

White House chief of staff Reince Priebus held a meeting at Mar-a-Lago with Bannon and Kushner in an attempt to mediate between the two, CBS News reported on Saturday. Manhattan liberals including Cohen, Kushner and Ivanka Trump seem to have taken over the West Wing of the White House. He - along with deputy Stephen Miller - were the guiding lights behind Trump's travel ban. For instance, golf. Second, watching TV-particularly media coverage of Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump is appearing to rule out deeper American military intervention in Syria beyond retaliatory strikes if Syrian President Bashar Assad continues his assault on civilians with chemical weapons.

Trump acknowledged the feud among the two and said he told Bannon to make things right, or else he will.

Mr. Bannon is the rumpled hero of the anti-establishment populist base that drove Mr. Trump's Electoral College victory, but who appears to be losing clout.

"Hopefully President Trump is able to attend a White House Seder at some point because I think retelling the ancient story of liberation from persecution is an important exercise for the leader of the free world".

But Spicer said "going in and occupying Syria for the express objective of regime change is something the president has been very clear on". "I was put on to ensure that it was de-operationalized", Bannon said in a statement Wednesday to the Wall Street Journal.

"I am my own strategist".
