United CEO says no one will be fired for dragging incident

United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy said the airline looks " forward to meeting with the committee and sharing with them the comprehensive review and the customer-focused actions we will communicate next week".

Meanwhile, a #ChineseLivesMatter petition on the whitehouse.gov petitions page demanding a federal investigation into the incident now has over 200,000 signatures with the number continuing to rise even after it was discovered that the passenger was Vietnamese-American, not Chinese-American.

While the news spread quickly across many Asian countries (a key market), the airline claimed that it's too early to predict whether bookings will be affected.

A surge in holiday air travel this weekend comes as airlines are making changes to their policies in the wake of a bad month.

In United's first-quarter earnings call this week, company executives again apologized to Dao and United customers.

In response to the public outcry over the incident, United has said that it will require its employees to book seats on hour in advance, to avoid similar incidents of passengers being forced to give up their seats after boarding.

Lawyers for Mr Dao reported that their client, a physician from Pennsylvania, sought treatment for unspecified injuries at a local hospital following the incident. The airline is conducting a review of what happened with Dao, which is due April 30.

Munoz reportedly called the situation a "humbling learning experience", according to Fox Business.

"A lot of people have ideas and thoughts about how we can make things better, but in that segment, there's been a lot of support", said Munoz. United picked Dao and three other already-seated passengers to exit the aircraft after none had taken financial offers in exchange for being bumped.

The violent incident saw the 69-year-old loose two front teeth, as well as suffer a broken nose and a concussion, said his attorney. After Dao's removal, other customers booed the United crew when they appeared.

Dao's lawyers have taken steps that foreshadow a lawsuit against the airline and the city of Chicago, which operates O'Hare Airport, where the incident took place. Revenue, however, was up 2.7 percent, to $8.4 billion.
