USA serial killer fatally shoots himself after brief pursuit

Search For Facebook Killer Continues

By the time he pulled out of the driveway and onto Buffalo Road, state police were behind him, DuCharme said.

Cleveland.com reports officers didn't find any electronic devices inside gunman Steve Stephens' vehicle after he led police on a 2-mile chase in Erie, Pennsylvania, and then shot himself dead Tuesday.

It was loud and distinctive", Wheeler said."The next thing I know, they're approaching the vehicle. "I've got a lot of negative comments".

"[The employee] said, 'I think that's the guy".

Robert Godwin Sr., is being remembered as a wonderful person who taught his entire family about forgiveness.

"I wanted to see him go to trial, because it was God-awful what he did to my brother", she said.

As officers approached his auto, Stephens shot himself, Pennsylvania state police said on Tuesday on Twitter and at a news conference.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson told a news conference: "We have closure in regards to the search for Steve Stephens".

Godwin-Baines expressed empathy not just for Lane, but for Stephens' mother, too, when she spoke with Cooper. The auto Stephens was thought to be driving, a white Ford Fusion, did not contain Global Positioning System tracking devices, authorities said.

Cleveland police chief Calvin Williams said: "I think the people on social media kind of know the power and I think they know the harm it can do". After approaching Godwin on the street, Stephens asked him to say the woman's name before pulling out a gun and firing.

Lane said it has been hard watching her name dominate social media, where her connection to the killer became a topic of discussion over the weekend.

Facebook took down the video, as well as others he posted, and disabled his account within a few hours.

Godwin, Sr., was a father of 10 and one of the sweetest people, his family told FOX 8 News. "I wish it had gone down like that instead of him shooting himself".

Godwin will be laid to rest this Saturday.
