Watch SNL lampoon the director of Kendall Jenner's doomed Pepsi commercial

Pepsi pulled the controversial ad - just like it did recently with the commercial featuring Kendall Jenner - less than three months after its premiere on TV. It ends on the Pepsi logo and the ironically placed tagline "Water is life".

Upon joining the march, Jenner picks up a Pepsi and presents it to a police officer who accepts it, followed by cheering from the protesters.

Moments earlier, Madonna shared another post featuring the Pepsi commercial with Kendall Jenner, describing the clip as "sh*t", and wrote a side note along with it.

Joseph von Meding, filmmaker at ThirtyRev, told Business Insider the Pepsi ad didn't bring out an emotional response, which a protest video should. It was found that within the two and a half minute soft drink ad, the supermodel can be seen in the middle of an ongoing protest, walking towards a police officer to offer a can of Pepsi. It featured Kendal Jenner while taken with photo shoot to be with the group of people who are having a rally in the street. The law enforcer opened the top, took a gulp and is welcomed by the unusual yells of regard from the protesters.

The ad continues and the model takes off her wig and makeup and walks beside the protestors. "She hopes people understand that she wasn't involved in the creative process", the source continued.

This commercial would never have been approved if there were enough people of color in charge of the advertising campaigns, exposing a fatal flaw in Pepsi's advertising department.

Advertising is an incredible way to spread messages and influence the public, but with great power comes great responsibility; we can all learn from the mistakes Pepsi and Kendall Jenner have made.
