Woman fatally stabbed by Palestinian in Jerusalem, authorities say

The incident occurred in a train carriage on the light rail network near Jerusalem's municipality building and the walled Old City.

TV footage showed police officers restraining a man and carrying him away.

Palestinian teenager Jassem Muhammad Nakhla, who was shot and grievously injured by Israeli forces near the Jalazone refugee camp in the central occupied West Bank in March, succumbed to his wounds on Monday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported. At least 242 Palestinians have died during the period of sporadic violence.

Since October of 2015, more than 270 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli police either during - or after - alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli security forces, according to official Palestinian figures.

One of the other youths, 17-year-old Muhammad Mahmoud Ibrahim Al-Hattab, died that day, while the two others, Muhammad Hattab, 18, and Muhammad Moussa Nakhla, 18, were also seriously wounded.

Israel has been criticized internationally for being too heavy handed in response to the attacks, which have left almost 50 Israelis and more than 200 Palestinians dead.

Palestinian fears that Israel will seek to change those rules have repeatedly led to violence.
