2 dead, including suspect, after shooting at sports bar

According to an ABC affiliate, a shooting erupted at the Arlington Zona Caliente Sports Bar at about 6:15 p.m.

Arlington police are still trying to process a horrific shooting scene that unfolded at a popular restaurant and bar. Lt. Christopher Cook said two people were killed, including the alleged shooter.

Cook said a man walked into the sports bar and confronted the manager.

The man reported to police as an "active shooter" was 48-year-old James Jones.

"This customer was armed with a handgun and engaged the shooter by firing his weapon towards the suspect, striking him", Arlington PD said in a statement.

He said the customer, who was dining with his wife, "prevented further loss of life". WFAA reported, "A man opened fire at the Zona Caliente Sports Bar... but police say a customer with a gun of his own put a stop to it".

There were about 20 people in the bar at the time, and they were being interviewed by detectives.

Police do not yet have a motive for the shooting of the employee and there are no details yet on what their relationship might have been.

This comes after the rash of violent incidents across Texas in the past couple of weeks.
