First female White House chief usher 'no longer employed,' official says

"We are very grateful for her service and wish her the very best", a White House official told the Post.

According to multiple reports, a woman who broke some White House barriers back in 2011 is now without a job: Angella Reid, the first woman White House chief usher, has been fired by the administration.

The chief usher oversees all operations in the White House residence, including managing a staff of maids, butlers, chefs and other employees.

While Sanders said it wasn't uncommon for staffs to transition between administrations, chief ushers typically hold their positions for longer tenures and through different presidencies. But when her colleagues arrived at work today, they were told that Reid's time at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was over.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed Reid's dismissal at Friday's press briefing. They did not answer questions on the reasons for Reid's departure.

"I think it's best if the White House explains", was all Reid herself would say when contacted by the press about her notable absence from the residence staff. Reid was allegedly close to both Barack and Michelle Obama.

White House officials provided no further explanation for Reid's abrupt dismissal.

Trump wasn't at the White House on Friday when staff were informed of the firing.

The job of the chief usher is to run the executive mansion, overseeing its staff and all major events at the residence and working closely with the first family. Prior to joining the White House staff, Reid was General Manager of the Pentagon City Ritz-Carlton. she is one of only nine people to have held the title. Warm, kind, & commanded respect of the White House.

Reid, who had 25 years experience in hotel management, happened upon the position at a pool party. A White House that's seeking to make sexual assault and Caesarean sections fall under pre-existing conditions?
