Indian woman in Pakistan seeks security for journey back home

Uzma has been staying at the Indian mission in Islamabad

The mobile phone of an Indian High Commission official Piyush Singh was on Friday confiscated by in a Pakistani court, sources said.

Ali said that he Uzma's husband and under the law he can meet her in a free atmosphere. In her statement, recorded before a magistrate, she has said that she came to Pakistan to see her relatives and not to marry Ali.

Uzma, 20, has been staying at the Indian mission in Islamabad and refused to leave the High Commission premises until she is repatriated to India.

Amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over the mutilation of Indian army jawans and Islamabad's plans to execute Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, a senior Indian diplomat's cellphone was seized on Friday inside a Pakistani court. "I was forced to marry at gunpoint and my immigration documents were also taken away from me", she said, according to the official.

The petition has also sought exemption from police reporting with an inscription that Dr. Uzam's daughter, Falak, is also not feeling well in India and her return has become mandatory.

"Tahir deceived me and forced me to marry him at gunpoint. He even stole my passport and travelling documents".

He also rejected allegations of physical and sexual violence and said Uzma should be medically examined to prove her allegations.

Uzma, a resident of Delhi, filed a plea with an Islamabad court on May 8 against Ali.

"She will be sent back to India as soon as the legal problems are resolved".

The two contracted a court marriage on May 3rd in Buner District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Uzma, from Delhi, met Tahir in Malaysia.

The case has attracted attention on both sides of the border.

Ali accused the Indian high commission and Uzma's brother Waseem of creating misunderstanding.

Piyush Singh, first secretary at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad allegedly snapped three photos inside the Islamabad High Court during the hearing of the case filed by Tahir Ali seeking the high court's intervention to meet his Indian wife Uzma.

The request asked the court to hold a hearing regarding the matter immediately. "I have requested the High Court to arrange a meeting with Uzma in a free environment", he told reporters.
