Arsenal handed tough start to new Premier League season

Football transfer rumours: Arsene Wenger to make Monaco raid

Arsenal will the 2015/16 Premier League champions, Leicester City, at home on the opening day of the season.

Arsenal will open their 2017/2018 Premier League campaign against Leicester City on August 12.

According to the defender, who also played for Manchester United, part of the reason behind the struggles Arsenal have faced in the last decade is the fact Arsene Wenger is too loyal to players, and will stick behind them even if they deserve to be dropped and aren't necessarily playing well.

They would also like to sign his team-mate, Thomas Lemar, a 21-year-old France global who scored 19 goals from left midfield last season in the Monaco team that won the French league and reached the semi-final of the Champions League. That represents the first of five away fixtures to follow European ties, including another hard trip to Manchester City, and making for a potentially hellish few weeks of traveling.

It doesn't stop there.

Indeed, Arsenal will be well aware that competing in the Europa League could mean much longer trips around the continent with a large amount of the 32 teams hailing from the east.

Should Arsenal the youngsters in the Europa League?

Wenger has won the FA Cup a record seven times now but has not had his hands on the Premier League trophy since 2004.

With this in mind, you can probably guess how excited Arsenal fans became when they saw the French lineup for their friendly match with England on Tuesday night. How should Wenger approach the competition?
