LeBron reacts to slur spray painted on LA home

Basketball superstar LeBron James' Los Angeles home was vandalized with a racial slur, police said on Wednesday, a day before the Cleveland Cavaliers player was set to take the court in the first game of the NBA finals. She says the property manager told officers they believe the incident was captured on surveillance video.

He added that, by the time officers had arrived at the scene, the offending word had been painted over by management staff. Police are investigating it as an act of vandalism and possible hate crime.

Stephen Curry still hasn't forgotten about the possession he literally threw away in last year's grind-it-out Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers where every single one of them counted.

This year also marks the seventh straight NBA Finals appearance for James, who won back-to-back NBA championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013.

The graffiti, which has since been covered up, is at a home purchased by James in 2015 but there is nothing to suggest that he lives there on a regular basis. He lives in Bath, Ohio.

"On the eve of one of the greatest events we have in sports, race and what's going on comes again", James said. It was about dealing with racism, which James said "will always be a part of the world, a part of America".

James told reporters in Oakland his family was not harmed, and "that's the most important".

James said he hoped Wednesday's incident "can keep the conversation going and can shed light on us trying to figure out a way to keep progressing and not regressing".

After being asked about the graffiti, James stated, "No matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, no matter how many people admire you, you know being black in America is tough". He famously wore an "I Can't Breathe" shirt during warmups in 2014 to protest the NYPD killing Eric Garner, and he gave a joint speech about violence and racism with Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony at the 2016 ESPYS.

Getting ready for Game 1 had already become a more daunting task with what happened.

"I'll be focused tomorrow on the game, on all the games", James vowed. It actually comes after me continuing to be a role model to the youth and what I do as far as with my foundation. "At the end of the day they're safe, and that's the most important".
