No Medicaid cuts in Trump budget? Really?

Homeland Security John Kelly says the Trump administration had to make cuts as part of President Donald Trump's $4.1 trillion budget proposal, and says the grants are no longer as necessary as they once were.

Congress is scheduled to adopt a budget that would start with the new federal fiscal year on October 1, 2017.

Since becoming president, Trump has at times wrapped congressional Republicans in a clumsy embrace that many have welcomed, wooing House members with Oval Office facetime or trips on Air Force One. Then goodbye budget balance, even if the Rosy Scenario develops.

"These cuts that are being proposed are draconian". "Whether they're here illegally or not", Feinberg noted, "those families have American-citizen children".

Mick Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget, while introducing the budget Tuesday: "There are no Medicaid cuts in the terms of what ordinary human beings would refer to as a cut".

It follows in the footsteps of the Trump-Ryan health care bill, which gives massive tax breaks to the people on top, while throwing 24 million Americans off of their health insurance and dramatically raising premiums for older workers.

It is unclear if the Republican-controlled House and Senate will be able to pass a budget blueprint for the fiscal year starting on October 1.

But, women, in particular, would suffer a great deal if this budget passes.

The U.S. economy has grown by 3.2 percent a year on average since 1947, but never exceeded 3 percent during the Obama administration, the first time in history.

While this doesn't align with any of the eight pillars introduced just paragraphs above, it does align with Trump's value of the military and his support of veterans.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Trump's budget will get reworked in Congress, which is typical for presidential proposals.

Cuts to the National Institute of Health would stand in the way of critical life-saving research developing new treatments and cures. Maybe they could enter a job training program?

The food stamp program, which helps low-income and disabled people buy groceries, would be reduced by $200 billion over 10 years.

THE FACTS: Mulvaney is being artfully evasive about the health care program for families and the poor.

"If you're on food stamps, and you're able-bodied, we need you to go to work".

DeVos answered that that was not the federal government's business, but was for states and locales to decide. Paramedics hospitalized over a dozen people who were sick in the downtown area where the homeless gather during the incident. Since 1965, Medicaid has operated as an open-ended "partnership" with the states.

"These cuts will push low-income Americans farther down the economic ladder by ripping apart nutrition programs that help provide a path out of hunger", her statement said.

"Here's what I'm happy about: We finally have a president who's willing to actually even balance the budget", Ryan told reporters.

"Many in agriculture and rural America are likely to find little to celebrate within the budget request", Alabama Rep. Robert Aderholt, the Republican chairman of the appropriations subcommittee that oversees agriculture spending, told Perdue.

It uses eight pillars: affordable health care, eliminating outdated regulations, developing American energy - specifically, electricity and transportation fuel, reducing federal spending, and reforms in the tax code, immigration policies, welfare system and education.

"I think they're trying to do their best to come up with a budget that gets where we need to go but doesn't take on in a significant way entitlement programs, which is where most of us know the money is", said Sen.

Mr Trump's balanced-budget goal depends not only on 3 per cent growth projections - which most economists view as overly optimistic - but also a variety of accounting gimmicks, including an nearly $600bn (£463bn) peace dividend from winding down overseas military operations.

Mulvaney, a former US congressman, later said that it was typical of how Democrats talk about Republican White House budgets.
