Protests in NYC, across US demand Trump-Russia investigation

Americans in more than 130 cities took to the streets Saturday in a "March for Truth", aimed at forcing an independent investigation of President Donald Trump and the ties between Russian Federation and his campaign and associates. Demonstrators also demanded that Trump release his tax returns, a tradition among US presidents which Trump has steadfastly refused to follow. "We're not going to put up with it", said one protester.

Kate Handley, a resident of Chesapeake, Virginia, also attended the DC protest, saying that as a military veteran she was frustrated with Trump's "selling out the United States". "I mean, this affects our constitution".

A demonstrator holds up a sign of Vladimir Putin during an anti-Trump "March for Truth" rally on June 3, 2017 in New York City. In addition to concerns over collusion with the Kremlin, Trump experienced a wave of global backlash following his decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement on Thursday.

Trump supporters held their own rally on Saturday in Lafayette Square across from the White House.

Several hundred people took part in a "March for Truth" through downtown Seattle on Saturday after gathering at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill.

"When he mentioned Pittsburgh, it touched my heart", Vincent Fusca said of Trump's use of Fusca's hometown. "It's putting people to work in Pittsburgh".

And Alycia Ramirez said she came from Kirkland with her son to be a voice for her husband.

Jamie Margolin, a 15-year-old from West Seattle, said she came with her father because she's anxious about climate change and because she thinks Trump isn't being honest about his connections with Russians.

Some of the people behind the barricade wore "Make America Great Again" caps associated with Trump's presidential campaign and waved American flags. "So, we will rise together to call for a complete, fair and impartial investigation, for the pursuit of truth, and for the restoration of faith in our electoral system and the Office of the Presidency".

Two weeks ago, former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed by the Department of Justice to serve as Special Counsel on the Russian Federation investigation.

Another Saturday, another protest against President Donald Trump.

The 53-year-old from Mercer Island said, "It's our patriotic duty to resist the lies of the administration and get to the truth of what happened in the election". Major cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. and New York City also had demonstrations planned.

"I'm really disgusted with the way our administration is behaving", Bedrick said. "We need as much information as possible, and that includes his tax returns, to see if there are any financial connections between Trump and Russian Federation". Everything, from the environment to immigration, to women's rights and health care.
