Sony Killed Off The PS3 In Japan

The goodbye news was posted on the Japanese PlayStation website and it comes after nearly a decade of the company's production operations of the device. The end of summer is marked by the flood of free games from Sony for PlayStation Plus Subscribers. But just like many other patients filed by the company, which never saw the light, it is really hard to say whether the Sony PS Vita 2 will arrive or not.

The first game coming for PS3 owners with a PS+ membership in June is Abyss Odyssey. The console received all latest sports games from Electronic arts including Federation Internationale de Football Association 16, NFL, GTA V among many other newer titles.

The botched launch of the PlayStation 3 combined with the exceptional buzz the Xbox 360 had generated until that point meant that Microsoft took a surprising lead in the hardware race in the early days of the competition.

The PS3 launched in Japan (and the United States and other markets) in November 2006. Those who do not have an internet connection for their PS4 will also be able to either download the update on a computer or install it on a USB device or even wait for the update to appear on a game disc. Once there is no more PS3 to support, all of Sony's video gaming resources can be strategically placed to handle everything about the PS4. Instead of the usual six free games it looks like they limited it to just two but made a decision to go for some measure of quality over quantity.

The May games are already available for the PlayStation Plus.

Sony would eventually right the PlayStation 3 ship somewhat by making changes to the console's price and basic design.

Production of the PlayStation 3 has seemingly ended in Japan.

Meanwhile, there are lots of ranging speculations over Sony's next moves.

Sony PlayStation will announce their new PS Plus June 2017 free games later today and if all goes to plan we'll likely hear something around 4.30PM/5PM. That said, the PS2 still remains top-selling the PlayStation console with over 155 million units sold.
