Theresa May: Back my vision of brighter Brexit future

However, other pollsters, while agreeing that Labour is eating into the Tory lead, still put Mrs May's party as much as 10-12 points clear - enough for a comfortable majority in the Commons.

This dwarfs the £331,499 that was donated to Labour over the same timeframe, with Jeremy Corbyn's party only narrowly ahead of the Liberal Democrats in donations.

Responding to Ms Thornberry's comments, Conservative chairman Sir Patrick McLoughlin said: "The truth is out: Jeremy Corbyn will invite the other parties to prop him up as prime minister if there is a hung parliament on June 9".

In an attempt to counter the criticism of his leader, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson slammed the BBC Thursday for its audience selection at the debate, calling it "the most leftwing audience I've ever seen" - a claim also made on the front page of Thursday's Daily Mail.

Corbyn supporter, author and journalist Owen Jones told IBTimes UK that he should leave the top job if he fails to increase Labour's vote share or gain seats on 8 June.

Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron got off to a strong start with his opening statement of the debate.

Amber Rudd accused Jeremy Corbyn of being good at "defending the terrorists" and of believing in a "magic money tree" as the pair clashed during a fiery election debate.

The other participants traded barbs over everything from immigration to public spending, but were united in attacking May's refusal to appear.

Britain can look forward to a brighter future outside the EU, Theresa May has declared as she sought to breathe new life into the Conservatives' faltering General Election campaign.

At a campaign rally in southwest England, May denied she was running scared.

"I think debates where the politicians are squabbling amongst themselves doesn't do anything for the process of electioneering".

"If they do, I am confident that we can fulfil the promise of Brexit together and build a Britain that is stronger, fairer and even more prosperous than it is today". Since then, the bombing that killed 22 people at a Manchester concert and some policy missteps by May's party have thrown the contest into uncertainty.

The survey of more than 1,800 people between 30-31 May put the Conservatives on 42% (-1) and Labour on 39% (+3).

YouGov stressed that was just one possible result of its research, which is based on a mix of polling and demographic modeling.

"The movement in the polls over this campaign is bigger than in any election I've covered since 1945", veteran poll watcher David Butler said on Twitter.

Plaid Cymru's Leanne Wood also came out of the election battle fairly unscathed, after earning particular praise for her cutting Brexit line to Mr Nuttall when asking if would refuse to pay up if he was going through a real divorce: "We all know about blokes like you".

"Do we need, as I'm afraid the Prime Minister has done for the last seven years, to set completely barmy, bogus targets that she fails to meet every year".
