Thunderstorm watch for Quinte

The STORMTracker Doppler Network shows thunderstorms are already firing up over southwest Montana in response to significant daytime heating.

The Storm Prediction Center has a "Marginal" risk for a few damaging thunderstorms clipping a small part of SW Montana mostly west of the divide this afternoon and evening.

For the second day in a row, Quinte is once again under a severe thunderstorm watch. They warned that hail damage to vehicles was expected and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

Most of Colorado has a chance to see some rain Wednesday, though the heaviest precipitation and highest chance of severe storms will be in northeastern Colorado. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

The Office of the Fire Marshal urges residents living in the areas affected by the system to take cover as soon as the storm approaches.

Conditions are favourable today, May 30, for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain, Environment Canada says.
