Warriors set to make their claim as NBA's best ever

Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and the rest of the Warriors will be able to make that boast if they win Friday to complete the most impressive postseason run in major sports history. "I mean, who wouldn't want to sacrifice playing on a Golden State team or a San Antonio team or a Cleveland team when you know the ultimate result is you can actually compete for a championship?"

But despite the win, a comfortable 3-0 lead and being 48 minutes away from a title and a ideal 16-0 playoff run, the Warriors know that finishing the deal is going to be hard.

James knows his team have to play a flawless game on Friday or else they will be on the wrong end of a historic playoff run. "You can tell, he knows this is his moment". They became the first team to triumph after falling into a 3-1 Finals deficit when they beat the Warriors in seven games a year ago.

Barring a miracle rally, only two players in National Basketball Association history will have suffered more finals defeats than James.

No team has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit, and it doesn't appear any team is equipped to hang with these Warriors, who may go down as one of the best ever.

"I never been in this position before", said Durant, long accused of not being able to win the big game. "I don't want to relax". It's not over. This is a insane game.

The top-seeded and undefeated Warriors, who can close out a ideal postseason run on Friday, boast a slew of weapons, most notably two-time reigning league MVP Stephen Curry and four-times scoring champion Kevin Durant.

Combine that with last year's 73-win season, and a second title in three years - which could have easily been three consecutive championships - and foundation of the case has been made.

"They're definitely a different team than they were a year ago that's definitely in full effect that we're all fully aware of", the Cavs' Kyrie Irving said.

"It's been a long season, and you hate for it to end this way".

Curry hit a layup and after both James and Irving missed for the Cavs, Durant dropped his 3 - a shot that could be the one most remembered in this magnificent run by the Warriors.

"All I was looking at was the bottom of the net", Durant said. "I saw he (James) was playing his heels behind the 3-point line". I've been working on that shot my whole life. To see that go in, that was liberating, man. For me, when I left here to go to Miami, we had to build something. "I get drawn in too much of what I'm doing right now in the present", James said. "I played against some great teams, but I don't think no team has had this type of firepower". Curry, victor of the last two MVP awards, is fully healthy after struggling through last year's Finals.

LeBron James and Kyrie Irving delivered a masterclass effort in Game Three of the NBA Finals on Wednesday but it was still not enough to carry the Cleveland Cavaliers past the juggernaut that are the Golden State Warriors.

Curry finished with 26 points and tied Kevin Love with a game-high 13 rebounds. Golden State's nine 3-pointers in the first quarter broke the previous Finals mark held by five teams, most recently the Warriors in 2015.

One loss from his fifth defeat in 8 NBA Finals appearances, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is matter-of-fact about his legacy, living in the moment and having nothing left to prove.
