Hurricane Jose Churns In Atlantic Between The Bahamas And Bermuda

Hurricane Irma hits the Caribbean and Florida

Jose has weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm, but the National Hurricane Center expects it will strengthen again sometime late Friday.

"Jose is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 miles per hour [11 km/h], and this motion is expected to continue through Friday, followed by a turn to the northwest on Saturday". It's about 510 miles east-northeast of the southeastern Bahamas and 470 miles south of Bermuda, moving toward the southeast at 7 mph.

GFS for Monday night with tropical storm winds possible for the Outer Banks. It is expected to continue on a west-northwest path through Friday, then turn to the northwest Saturday.

Jose, once a powerful hurricane threatening already devastated Caribbean islands, downgraded to a tropical storm Thursday.




Jose is expected to pass by the North Carolina coast well out to sea Monday into Tuesday, Sept. 19.

European for Monday night which keeps the main part of the storm over the Atlantic and gusty winds for the Outer Banks.

A few of the weather models has brought Jose close to our southern coast of New England and off the coast of Cape Cod by Wednesday, with gusty winds and rough seas.

As Tropical Storm Jose moves northwestward, north of the Bahamas, two disturbances are drifting westward in the eastern Atlantic. The swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and unsafe rip currents.
