Head, legs of missing Swedish journalist found

Kim Wall who was aboard a submarine

The freelance journalist went missing after boarding a privately built submarine with its Danish inventor, Peter Madsen, on August 10. A warning - there are disturbing details in this report.

Mr Madsen, 46, denies murdering her.

The items were found on Friday in Koge Bay, a little more than half a mile from where her torso was recovered on August 21. A few hours later, Peter Madsen was rescued in the strait of Öresund, between Denmark and Sweden, while his submarine was sinking, voluntarily scuttled by him according to the Danish authorities.

The cause of her death has not been determined, although prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen told a court on Monday that Wall was stabbed at least 15 times in the rib cage and genitals.

Jens Moller, the chief investigator in the case, said at a news conference outside Police Headquarters in Copenhagen that the divers had found plastic bags containing body parts and clothing belonging to Ms.

Madsen, who is married and has been in custody since August 11, claims that Wall died when a 70kg (154-pound) hatch door fell on her head, and in a panic, he threw her body overboard.

Madsen has been in court this week charged with her murder where it was revealed he had video footage on his computer showing women being violently killed.

Her torso was discovered eleven days after her disappearance and now police in Copenhagen have found her head and limbs during a search of Koge Bay. Police identified it as Wall's and said blood inside the submarine matched DNA samples retrieved from her hairbrush. Another bag found nearby contained her missing clothes.

"This hard drive doesn't belong to me", Madsen insisted, saying that numerous people had access to his workshop.

He said a post-mortem examination confirmed the head was Ms Wall's and that it showed "no sign of fracture..."

Wall, 30, was a freelance journalist from Sweden who attended Columbia Journalism School in NY, and reported on stories from Sri Lanka to North Korea.
