Vegas shooter lived secret life

Las Vegas massacre chilling

Mourners attend a candlelight vigil at the corner of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard for the victims of Sunday night's mass shooting, October 2, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The fuel tanks were in the line of sight during Mr Paddock's attack on concert-goers, but it is not known if he was specifically targeting the containers.

Page one of today's paper tells the story: At least 59 people were killed and more than 500 were injured in the most serious mass shooting in US history.

Paddock had amassed an arsenal of at least 42 guns, explosives and several thousand rounds of ammunition, police said.

Paul Peddle, who owns B & S Guns in Garland, Texas, said Wednesday that Paddock didn't buy anything on the most recent visit but asked about a way to modify a gun to make it easier to pull the trigger.

One week earlier, he had rented an apartment overlooking another open-air music festival in downtown Las Vegas.

Police say a smoke alarm helped them determine Paddock's location in the Mandalay Bay hotel.

"I can tell you I'm very troubled by it", he said.

Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said on Wednesday that alleged Las Vegas Strip gunman Stephen Paddock spent decades acquiring ammunition as he lived a secret life before killing 58 at a country music festival on Sunday.

Eric Paddock said the two basically grew up not knowing their father, and that he had no reason to believe his brother was trying to gain similar notoriety.

It saved police checking more than 3,300 hotel rooms. They said they want people to know that social media has spun this out of control and jumped to conclusions that their father was involved.

Police identified the suspected lone shooter as Stephen Paddock, 64, who they said killed himself before he could be detained in his hotel room inside of the Mandalay Bay casino and hotel.

Paddock had 23 firearms at his disposal in his hotel room. Paddock was using her identification leading up to the shooting.

Danley, considered a "person of interest" in the case, was out of the country in Asia at the time of the shooting, having traveled to Hong Kong and Manila in the days before Paddock's attack.

"She is a good and gentle person", Waltrip said.
