FedEx Says It's Sticking With The NRA

NRA members are losing discounts as companies pull out of their partnerships with the pro-gun group

Chubb will stop offering its National Rifle Association insurance policy for gun owners, known as "NRA Carry Guard".

Supporters of the NRA, however, were mounting their own campaigns. In 2014, there were more than 65,000 intentional firearm injuries in the United States and almost 16,000 unintentional firearm injuries.

The study comes amid a reignited debate over national gun control policy.

The drop in injuries was only seen among men. Vehicle rental companies such as Enterprise, Alamo, Hertz, Avis Budget, and National also ended their contracts, and Sirva, which owns Allied and North American moving companies, has said they "no longer have an affiliate relationship with the NRA, effective immediately".

"There is a rhetoric", he said, "that gun injuries stem from a lack of training and experience". "We will be requesting that the NRA remove our information from their website", the airline said.

He says some blame an object, like a gun, instead of the person who committed the crime. In 2014, 461 people died from an accidental firearm discharge and 15,928 were injured, almost 2,000 of whom were children, the study authors note. "It makes sense that decreased exposure and decreased usage would result in fewer events", said Dr. Stephen Hargarten, chairman of emergency medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee, who was not involved in the study.

Stanford University professor John Donahue, a co-author of the study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, discredits the mantra repeated by NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre that "the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun".

But of course we're not talking about FedEx denying service to NRA members or to the organization (which uses UPS at its online store) or discriminating against them. In the aftermath of the bloodshed that claimed 17 lives, candidates in GOP primaries across the country have scrambled to declare their loyalty to their gun-owning base-sometimes adopting extreme positions to outflank their opponents.

"That's nearly 100,000 shipments - and more projected this year". Gun injuries on nonconvention days occurred at a rate of 1.5 per 100,000 people, compared with 1.25 on convention dates-a 20 percent difference, the analysis showed. "But the drop in gun injuries during these large meetings attended by thousands of well-trained gun owners seems to refute the idea that gun injuries stem exclusively from lack of experience and training in gun use". "There could be a larger network effect that could be at play here". We should encourage them to have their convention elsewhere. If the shipper, in this case the NRA, is engaged in lawful conduct, has an item that is legal to ship, and agrees to the company's terms and conditions regarding the shipment, UPS will transport their shipment from origin to destination.

"I like a business standing up for what they believe", Derossitt said.
